Learn to understand wine with us

Nowhere in the Czech Republic, nor far beyond its borders, will you find an equally wide, thoughtful, affordable and inspiring selection of wine by the glass.

64 wines are waiting for you, chosen so you can discover, compare and enjoy top wine at a sensible price.

If you taste several wines from one machine, go left to right, from lighter or simpler wines to the more complex ones. Start with tasting pours to try as much as possible, and ask for a second glass so you can compare side by side.

What is waiting in each machine

  1. I1 – 8

A white mix and classic reds

In the first koštomat, half is a white wine selection: the Greek classic Assyrtiko, a dry Hungarian Furmint, the lesser-known Burgundian variety Aligoté, and the Austrian blend Zierfandler-Rotgipfler, which was already popular at the Habsburg court. The red wine section features the staples Tempranillo, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. This trio is complemented by an excellent representative from the Roussillon.

  2. II9 – 16

    Moravia and Czechia

The second koštomat features wines from the Czech Republic’s Moravian and the Bohemian regions: Veltlín, Vlašák, and Bílá(!) Frankovka. Among the reds are Pinot Noir Précoce, Sankt Laurent, Cabernet Moravia, and Frankovka.

  3. III17 – 24

    Italy

The third koštomat celebrates Italy: Gavi and Arneis from the north; Carricante and Catarratto from Sicily. Among the reds, Valpolicella, Nebbiolo, and Amarone will be featured.

  4. IV25 – 32

    France

The fourth koštomat explores France: Alsatian Pinot Gris, Grenache Blanc, and both everyday and premium red Bordeaux wines.

  5. V33 – 40

    The New World

The fifth koštomat features wines from the New World: Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Zinfandel, Pinotage, Shiraz, and Malbec—that is, from New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, and California.

  6. VI41 – 46

    Natural wines and Spain

The sixth koštomat displays natural wines from Slovakia and a selection of red wines from Spain.

  7. VII47 – 52

    Riesling and Pinot

The seventh koštomat appeals to lovers of Riesling and Pinot. Compare basic and top-tier examples side by side.

  8. VIII53 – 58

    Residual sugar and GSM

The eighth koštomat focuses on residual sugar in the left half. The right half is called GSM (and does not refer to the telecommunications spectrum).

  9. IX59 – 64

Chardonnay and the cradle of wine

At the ninth koštomat, compare different styles of Chardonnay. The red wines represent the regions where “it all began”: Armenia, Georgia, and Greece.
